Understanding Indian Will Laws: A Detailed Overview
Abstract
The legal landscape of wills in India has evolved, with statutes like the Indian Succession Act, 1925, shaping testamentary practices. Judicial attitudes, seen in cases such as Tagore. Tagore and Valliammai Achi. Nagappa Chettiar, have clarified principles governing wills. Concepts like probate, codicil, and letters of administration play vital roles. Muslim and Christian laws on wills vary, specifying conditions for valid wills. Legal perspectives, as exemplified in cases like Common Cause. Union of India, illuminate the nuanced interpretation of will-related issues by the Indian judiciary. The concept of living wills, addressed in cases like Aruna Shanbaug. Union of India and Common Cause, signifies a person's right to die with dignity through advance directives.

फणीश्वरनाथ रेणु: सिनेमाई छवियों का कृति के भीतर समावेश
Abstract

Assessing the Impact of Microfinance and Self-Help Groups on Livelihood Diversification in Northern Part of West Bengal
Abstract
This study examines how microfinance and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) support rural households in diversifying their livelihood. We focused our research on the Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, and Cooch Behar districts of West Bengal, India and gathered data from 200 households. Our analysis assessed the extent to which these households diversified their income sources and examined whether microfinance access and SHG membership played a role in shaping diversification strategies. Using multiple regression analysis, we find that both microfinance access and SHG membership significantly encourage livelihood diversification. Access to microfinance provides households with the financial boost they need to invest in new income-generating activities. Simultaneously, SHGs provide access to credit, facilitate knowledge sharing, and help members develop new skills, all of which are crucial to diversifying livelihoods. We also discovered that socioeconomic factors, such as education level and land ownership, significantly influence household diversification. These findings underscore the importance of microfinance and SHGs in helping rural communities diversify their livelihoods and become more resilient.

Tess of the D’Urbervilles: A Victim of Social Injustice and Male Dominance
Abstract
This paper analyses how Thomas Hardy's novel “Tess of the D'Urbervilles” portrays the struggles of women within the patriarchal society of Victorian England. It explores the themes of class and gender inequality, highlighting the limitations imposed upon women by societal norms and expectations. The narrative focuses on Tess Durbeyfield, a young woman who becomes a victim of both male dominance and the rigid social hierarchy of her time. Through close textual analysis and a feminist theoretical framework, the research examines how Tess’s interactions with male characters like Alec d'Urberville and Angel Clare exemplify the oppressive structures that define her relationships and ultimately shape her tragic fate. The study also considers the interplay of chance and circumstances in influencing Tess's trajectory, showcasing how her purity and resilience are challenged by the harsh realities of Victorian morality and societal prejudices. The paper argues that Tess's journey serves as a powerful critique of the injustices prevalent in Victorian society, particularly the sexual double standards and the devaluation of women based on their social status and perceived purity. By examining the novel through these lenses, this research offers a deeper understanding of Hardy's engagement with socio-political issues and his profound commentary on women's enduring struggle for recognition, autonomy, and justice.
