Abstract

This study examines the role of financial knowledge as a key component of financial literacy in promoting inclusive growth, with special reference to Kamrup Rural district of Assam. Financial knowledge is essential for enabling individuals to make informed financial decisions, access formal financial services, and actively participate in economic activities. The study is based on primary data collected from a sample of 400 respondents using a structured questionnaire. Simple statistical tools such as percentages and descriptive analysis have been employed to assess the level of financial knowledge and its relationship with inclusive growth indicators such as savings behaviour, access to banking services, and use of digital financial platforms. The findings reveal a significant positive relationship between financial knowledge and inclusive growth. Respondents with higher levels of financial knowledge demonstrate better financial participation, including increased use of banking services and digital transactions. However, the overall level of financial knowledge among respondents in the study area remains relatively low, particularly among lower-income and less-educated groups. The study highlights the need for targeted financial education initiatives and policy interventions to enhance financial knowledge, thereby fostering inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
