Abstract |
Love and spirituality have been central themes in English literature, often depicted as interconnected forces that lead individuals toward self-discovery and transcendence. From Shakespeare’s sonnets to the metaphysical poetry of John Donne and the Romantic idealism of William Wordsworth, love has frequently been portrayed as both a human emotion and a gateway to divine realization. Wordsworth, in particular, saw love and nature as pathways to spiritual enlightenment. His poetry, including Lines Composed a Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey and Ode: Intimations of Immortality, reflects a belief in the spiritual power of nature and love’s ability to elevate the soul. This article explores how Wordsworth integrates love, spirituality, and nature in his poetry, examining key scholarly perspectives on his work. |
