Abstract

This study examines the transformative potential of Indigenous digital storytelling in advancing educational change and decolonization, with a specific focus on Santali short films. Situated within the broader discourse on decolonial pedagogy and Indigenous knowledge systems, the research explores how Santali filmmakers and community creators use digital media to reclaim cultural narratives, challenge dominant epistemologies, and advocate for inclusive and culturally responsive education. The study adopts a qualitative approach, drawing on content analysis of selected Santali short films alongside insights from community-based practices and participatory storytelling frameworks. The findings suggest that Santali digital narratives serve as powerful tools of advocacy by preserving linguistic heritage, revitalizing cultural identity, and amplifying marginalized voices in both formal and informal educational spaces. These films not only resist historical erasure and colonial representations but also create alternative pedagogical resources that are locally grounded and contextually relevant. Furthermore, the study highlights how digital storytelling fosters intergenerational knowledge transmission and strengthens community engagement in educational processes. By positioning Santali short films as instruments of both cultural resistance and educational innovation, this research contributes to the growing scholarship on Indigenous media and decolonial education. It underscores the need to integrate Indigenous digital narratives into mainstream educational frameworks to promote equity, diversity, and epistemic justice.
